Creed For Life's Highway Cred

Don’t count your chickens before they hatch
Plan but with this thought in mind
Often our plans and God’s plans don’t match
Still, always be gentle and kind

Don’t push the person ahead of you, dear
To get to the front of the line
Soon today’s trouble is yesterday’s tear
So always be gentle and kind

Testing and trial are life’s Certainty
Proving the measure behind
Smiles big and bright when the day is sunny
And we all seem gentle and kind

Don’t heap up more than you need; be content
Lest we become people-blind
Don’t let greed gobble up gifts God has lent
Always be gentle and kind

Always leave room at your table, my friend
For an ‘angel unaware
We never know what waits ‘round the next bend
Or what will shape our next prayer

Don’t borrow care from tomorrow, my love
Life’s strife is present-designed
Granting grand chance for example to prove
Who truly is gentle and kind

So, don’t count your chickens before they hatch
Plan but be humble of mind
Often our plans and God’s plans don’t match
Still, always be gentle and kind

Continue in brotherly love. 2Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it. 3Remember those in prison as if you were bound with them, and those who are mistreated as if you were suffering with them.…

A Share It or Keep It Challenge...

Oh! Those awful times when we wish we could unspeak what we spoke in haste...
So many words to chose from...their sequence is Crucial!
Wise to put them through the 'humble and kind' test

Do you have a word to say
That would keep gloom’s clouds at bay
That could stir a prayer, a song
When life’s hurt weighs hard and long
Share it, share it, share it

Do you have a word to tell
That could save a soul from hell
That could lift the heart downcast
That could help faith to hold fast
Share it, share it, share it

Do you have a word to spurt
That would shame or blame or hurt
That would cause someone to fall
That could scar the hidden soul
Keep it, keep it, keep it

We Are All Authors

Because every once in a while a song comes along that makes us want to grab our air-guitars and jump on the kitchen-table stage and belt it out, I have not completely turned my back on country music:)
Yes, let's be humble and kind, possible by the grace of God, as we write the stories of our lives, but once!

We write, whether with pen or with the stroke of feet to dust
The story of each life is written once for each of us
And though it seems so much of it is beyond our control
With who we are and what we have we write with heart and soul

The penmanship of moments bleeds through quills in sundry ways
Where dawn and dusk ignite and snuff the breadth of mortal days
And we should write with utter care and be aware because
The touch and taste of it turns into tales of what once was

Then pray the Lord our words will be worthwhile and good and kind
For what we write with what we have is what we leave behind
And pray our souls be on their guard, for love to fill our quills
As from the inkwell of God’s grace the story of life spills

We are all authors of a story only we can spell
Then grip time’s pen with holy awe and seek to write it well
For soon the dust that we kick up will settle; who knows when?
And seal our stories still unfolding from each pulsing pen

On Combing the Air For Treasure...

When stars return to splay their froth upon celestial sweeps
When the whole world is fast asleep save poets at their quest
And even winds have ceased their aimless to and fro to rest
When Time has tucked into his sheaf another leaf for keeps

When morn has filled its emptiness and noon has tipped its flask
To pour its virgin vintage on dusk’s blushing cobblestone
And Before adds to scads of After, its Unknown to Known
Where expectation is subjected to Time’s certain task

When we have stripped the husk away and gorged upon the fruit
And spit the pits and lingered over its sweetness a bit
When all that we have left of what was once a page un-writ
Are postludes played and replayed on a thought-inspired flute

…when today’s seeds have scattered to the soil of what will be
The Gate into its meadow barred with moments, nothing more
Then we stare at the fine-tuned air that echoes, shore to shore
With all that we have left of it to keep; a memory

We are in the process of making a once-in-a-lifetime memory. Let's make it special! Happy June 26th.

Here summer vacation has officially begun. Victoria and her friends, (the Gr. 8 girls) are ending a chapter in their lives while beginning another, with a camp-out. The back yard is a plethora of shrieks and laughter like only a whole lot of  13-14 year old girls are capable of...great memories in the making!

I had fun preparing brunch which originally was going to be served mid-morning (and I guess 9:00 is mid-morning for girls who stayed up most of the night and were 'STARVING!!';-)

Cheesy Hash Brown Casserole
Blueberry Sour Cream Coffee Cake Recipe
and the regular store-bought cereal etc.

Most of them chose frozen waffles and Cheerios;-0
