You show up in the strangest of places
I never know just where you will be
You never leave the faintest of traces
And yet there’s a trail of insanity
Filling out life’s ordinary spaces
With little pieces of you in me

You show up in the quiet of midnight
Or in the pause of my afternoon
You appear just before daylight
And walk with me by the light of the moon
Always lingering off the fringe of my visual
Yet moving in me like a soulful old tune

You show up when I’m a little lonely
Or when my cup of joy is full
You seem to be in a league of your own, dear
Quiet, yet intensely powerful
I know I am never quite alone, dear
I walk in a whisper of wonderful
